Lori Blaker, CEO/President of TTi Global Hosts a Kick-off Orientation for Women of Tomorrow Mentors

Newly inducted Women of Tomorrow mentors went through an orientation at the TTi Global headquarters in Rochester Hills where they learned about important program policies, the scholarship program process and field trip procedures.

Rochester Hills, MI (PRWEB) September 18, 2014

The Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program kicks off its 4th year of mentoring students throughout Metro Detroit. Last year the organization awarded over $350,000 in college scholarships to graduating members of the Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program.

With the new school year just starting, mentors are now scheduling their meetings with high school girls all over Metro Detroit. The mentors are highly successful business women who commit to meet with their girls each month. An orientation is mandatory for all incoming mentors and seasoned mentors are required to attend a refresher update.

Women of Tomorrow was conceived in 1997 by Television Journalist Jennifer Valoppi and co-founded with Don Browne, retired Telemundo Network President. The Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program is designed to inspire, motivate and empower at-risk young women to live up to their full potential through a unique mentoring program with highly accomplished professional women and scholarship opportunities. Women of Tomorrow currently mentors over 3,200 at-risk girls in over 150 public high schools in approximately 62 cities in South Florida and Metropolitan Detroit with its network of over 450 Mentors.

Research shows that Women of Tomorrow Mentees have increased self-esteem, a 92% high school graduation rate, and increased academic performance each year they are in the program, to a statistically significant degree. Women of Tomorrow has awarded over $4 million in college scholarships to nearly 1,400 mentees. In Fall 2011, with support from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, we expanded to Metro Detroit, and will launch in Philadelphia, PA in Fall 2014, and Charlotte, NC in 2015.
