Thirty-Two TTi Global Staff Members Respond to Forgotten Harvest Call for Volunteers, Says Lori Blaker, President/CEO of TTi Global

This past week over half of the employees based in the Rochester Hills corporate office took time from their work day to volunteer needed man-hours at the Forgotten Harvest warehouse re-packing center in Oak Park, MI.

Since the economic downturn, staff members at TTi Global are fully aware of how fortunate they are to be part of a fast growing company. The rapid growth and expansion of the company has allowed employees to take a leadership role in the community. This past week over half of the employees based in the Rochester Hills corporate office took time from their work day to volunteer needed man-hours at the Forgotten Harvest warehouse re-packing center in Oak Park, MI.

Kevin Dever, Global Marketing Manager at TTi Global, expressed the firm’s commitment to community service. “Our company has been very fortunate to experience growth during this period of recession. We understand how many individuals have been adversely affected by the down turn. Michigan lost one million jobs over the past decade and the largest percent of the jobs were in Southeast Michigan. You realize the impact on Michigan families when you learn that four million households in our state are at risk of hunger.”

According to Feeding America’s national hunger study, the number of individual emergency food recipients who receive food each week in Southeast Michigan grew by over 78% since 2006. In Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties, 500,000 people including 200,000 children are living in poverty. “As a company we all felt the need to give back,” stated Christine Santos, CFO, “This experience enhanced our sense of team work. It was pretty amazing that together in one afternoon we were able to re-package 8000 pounds of food. Volunteering at Forgotten Harvest was very meaningful for all of us. This is something that we all look forward to doing again.”

Dever explains the company’s philosophy on corporate responsibility, “Serving the community is valued highly at TTi Global. Our President and CEO Lori Blaker leads by example. Each year she donates countless hours to various organizations and local charities. When we choose to support an organization we give a full commitment of both resources and time. We fully support Forgotten Harvest vital service to the community.”

Forgotten Harvest’s mission is to relieve hunger in the Detroit metropolitan community by rescuing surplus, prepared and perishable food and donating it to emergency food providers. In the past year, Forgotten Harvest became America’s largest food rescuer by rescuing a record 42 million pounds of food.Forgotten Harvest rescues food by collecting surplus, prepared and perishable food from a variety of sources such as grocery stores, restaurants, caterers, dairies, farmers, wholesale food distributors, and other Health Department-approved sources. This donated food – that would otherwise go to waste – is delivered free of charge to over 260 emergency food providers throughout metro Detroit.
